This is the iconic Willunga property you’d be proud as a peacock to own – and it offers several ways to make money.

When it comes to wedding and party venues, the Willunga Peacock Farm has been a popular choice for long. Known for its picturesque setting and resident peacocks, who have preened and posed for many a photographer, the iconic property has now been listed for sale.

Spread across more than two acres of land, the farm boasts of established gardens, courtyards as well as stand-alone buildings, including a homestead, a detached granny flat and a barn conversion that has hosted a diverse range of events. Completing the tranquil setting is a lake on the property.

The versatility of the acreage is something selling agent David Hams of Magain Real Estate – Seaford believes will make the property attractive to buyers.

“It is an amazing place and offers multiple potential income streams,” Mr Hams said.

“In the past, the property was called Normanton because of the Normans who settled in Willunga in the mid 1800s. They also introduced peacocks to the area. In fact, the peacocks on the farm are descendants of those that lived here over 100 years ago.

“There are around 20 peacocks on the farm … they are an intrinsic part of the property.”

The barn, which was also built in the mid 1800s, was converted by the owners and used as a restaurant and later as a reception area for events. It also comes with a commercial kitchen.

The main residence on the acreage has an old world charm with its stone facade and return verandah. Inside, the home boasts of high ceilings, timber floors, exposed stone walls and multiple fireplaces.

“Located on the fringe of the Willunga township and McLaren Vale wine region makes this property ideal for functions and perhaps, as a cellar door in the future,” Mr Hams said.

For those keen to add animals to the farm, there is a separate side paddock that is well-fenced for stock as well as a large chook enclosure. There’s also an orchard on the property with mature fruit trees and other plantations.
